The TOTS session on Google Tools will be held on Friday, February 20th, 2009 from 10am-12 noon in the Dodson Room in the Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

Google SketchUp

 

Google SketchUp is software that you can use to create 3D models of anything at all. The models can be situated in GoogleEarth using real-world coordinates.

A number of library and archives models have been built using Google SketchUp. You can select a library from the collection here, or try these examples:

If you're interested in trying out SketchUp yourself, Google has created a series of video tutorials to get you started. They range from basic to more advanced topics.

Vancouver 3D - SketchUp and G-Earth Mash

 

Great workshop today, thanks for sharing your experience with us!  

You may know that Vancouver is now viewable in 3D on Google Earth, courtesy of the Evil Geniuses and their possibly mythical city mapping sonar.  

A much faster way to SketchUp large areas. It's actually created using city planning department GIS data...  although I prefer the sonar version of the story should this ever be written into a screenplay.  

Remote users don't have the option of rain, fog, or pigeon layers.  Yet.
